Dorothy Elizabeth Stitt

Dorothy E. Stitt, 100, of Marion, formerly of Hudson, died on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion.

She was born on July 29, 1923, in Austin, MN, daughter of Albert and Vera Bartochek Yaroshek. Dorothy married Samuel T. Stitt on June 8, 1948, in Waterloo; he died on May 23, 1981. She worked in the bacon slicing department at Rath Packing for 25 years, retiring in 1978. She later worked for US Bank in Cedar Rapids for over 10 years, before moving to Hudson.

Dorothy volunteered at Witwer Children’s Hospital (UnityPoint St. Luke’s) in Cedar Rapids. She loved ballroom dancing with her husband, Sam. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She often took them out of school to go to the movies or dine at Bishops.

Dorothy is survived by one son, Mark (Kim) Stitt of Palm Coast, FL, two granddaughters, Lizz (Doug) Reuter of Hudson, and Chereen (Robbie) Rhoades of Vorhees; one grandson, Calvin (Nikki) Stitt of Jacksonville, FL; nine great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Sharon Yokum; a son, Mike Stitt; a grandson, Craig Reuter; and brother, Robert Yaroshek.
