Dolores Elaine May

Dolores E. May, 89, of Waterloo, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

Dolores was born on May 19, 1935, in Indianola, to Raymond W. and Wilma F. (Hockmuth) Douglas. Dolores married Ronald F. May on August 3, 1950, in Adel; he preceded her in death on July 19, 2014.

Dolores enjoyed being homemaker, raising her family and taking care of her grandchildren. She was a 60 year plus member of First Presbyterian-Waterloo where she served as a Deacon for many years.

She is also preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Gloria Wickett and Carolyn Shepler, and son-in-law, Jeff Ersland.

Dolores is survived by her daughters, Pamela (Lonnie) Barker, Deb Coen, Cheryl Ersland, and Susan (Gary) Hulme; brothers, Ronald (Ilene) Douglas and Glenn (Janet) Douglas; sisters-in-law, Carol Barnes and Margaret May; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church, 505 Franklin St, Waterloo. Visitation will take place one hour prior. Burial to follow at Waterloo Cemetery
