Delores Maxine Zimmer

Delores Maxine Zimmer, 88, of Waterloo, died on Tuesday, January 31, 2024, at Unity Point-Allen Hospital. She was born on April 7, 1935, to Christian E. and Ida D. (Hamlow) Stanley. Delores married Myron Paul Zimmer on August 14, 1953, in Waterloo and he preceded her in death on November 26, 2010.

Delores graduated from West High School in 1953. She was a homemaker who cherished her time spent raising her family. For over 20 years, Delores was very active in Child Evangelism Fellowship, teaching classes in her home after school. For some time, she played the violin for the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra. Delores and Myron loved to travel to visit their children and grandchildren, as well as their memorable trip to Seoul, South Korea.

She is also preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Albert O. Roskam; and stepbrother, Verlyn R. "Swede" Roskam.

Delores is survived by her sons, David (Gail) Zimmer of Helena, MT, Max (Jodi) Zimmer of Waterloo, Martin (Angela) Zimmer of Urbana, and Rod Zimmer of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Deanna (Randy) Temple of Ingleside, IL; 14 grandchildren, Sierra, Jesse, Allison, Matt, Dana, Miranda, Gabby, Zachary, Drew, Nathan, Toby, Shelby, Rachael, and Roxanne; 19 great-grandchildren; and stepsister, Vee Anne Roskam Angilley; and half-sister to Mary Jean (Stanley) Rynkiewicz, Christian Edward Stanley, and Claire Elizabeth (Stanley) Abbett.

Visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, will be held at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave. Funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel with burial following.
