David Garth Brunko

David Brunko, 86, of NorthCrest Specialty Care in Waterloo, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025, at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center.

He was born May 28, 1939, in Vinton, son of Rolland and Merna Hiler Brunko. David married Eileen Fitzpatrick on January 16, 1964, in Miami Beach, Florida. She preceded him in death on August 11, 2009.

David worked as an iron worker for G.E. Railroad for many years. He enjoyed spending his time hunting and fishing, listening to his favorite music, and grilling and smoking meat. Dave also raised pigeons and would race them.

David is survived by his daughter, Wendy Brunko; son, Shawn Brunko, both of Waterloo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Eileen; and sister, Joyce Mingus.

Memorial Services: 2:00 PM Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Locke Garden View Chapel, 3655 Logan Ave, Waterloo, with entombment in Garden of Memories Cemetery mausoleum. Visitation for one hour prior to the services at Locke Garden View Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the family
