Corwin Lee “Cork” Klages was born May 10, 1944, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Forest and Evelyn Slack Klages. He attended country school through the 7th grade and graduated from Charles City High School in 1962. He received his AA Degree in 1964 from Mason City Junior College.
Cork was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sharon Katherine Potter, on August 8, 1964, in Mason City, Iowa.
He worked as a Designer at John Deere PEC from June of 1964 until his retirement in December of 1999. Following his retirement, he drove a Semi for 15 years.
In addition to his professional achievements, Cork was an avid woodworker, finding joy and solace in crafting beautiful pieces with his own hands. He also enjoyed playing pickleball, bringing energy and enthusiasm to the court, always ready to share laughter and good times with friends and fellow players. He was an active member of Fresh Wind Worship at Western Home Communities, where he formed deep connections with others through faith and fellowship. He was a past member of the John Deere Supervisors Club and a past member of the Waterloo Elks.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Klages of Cedar Falls; his loving children, Steven (Nicole) Klages of Snohomish, WA, Laurie (Kurt) Eichelberger of Hudson, and Tami Klages of Marion; three grandchildren, AshLeigh (Josh) Studebaker, Evan Klages, and Ryan Klages and a sister, Jeri Creswell of Columbia, MO.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, Gayle Creswell and Dennis Potter.
