Corey Dean Marson

Corey D. Marson, 60 of Waterloo, died Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at MercyOne Waterloo with his family present. He was born May 3, 1964, in Waterloo, son of Lyle Dean and Charlene Elsie (Matson) Marson. Corey graduated from Central High School, Waterloo and worked for Young's Plumbing and as a custodian for the Cedar Falls School District.

Corey loved to tinker. He was always busy with his hands and getting them dirty. He started working on lawnmowers when he was 5 and small engines grew into big engines. Corey became a NASCAR fan, especially Tony Stewart and car #14. He had a quick wit, usually finding a nickname for those around him.

Corey is survived by his children, Achelle Lynne of Ayden, NC; Alec (Joshua Dalbey) Marson of Cedar Falls; Ariel Marson and Anthony Marson, both of Gilbertville; four grandchildren; his mother, Charlene Marson of Cedar Falls; two sisters, Kathy Barfels of Cedar Falls and Nadine (Bruce) Wilson of Waterloo; and his significant other, Melissa Mims of Waterloo, and many other family and friends.

Corey is preceded in death by his father, Lyle and his brother-in-law, Dan Barfels.

A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 am on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo with committal at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
