Arnold G. Averhoff, 88, of Waterloo died March 23, 2021. He was born on October 6, 1932 in Waterloo, son of Edgar H. and Esther L. (Weinberg) Averhoff.
He graduated from Dunkerton High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, receiving an Honorable Discharge.
Arnold married LaVera Tiedt in Readlyn on November 8, 1953, she died September 1, 1998. Later, he married Karen Lauber in Waterloo, on September 19, 1999. Arnold was a Federal Meat Inspector at Rath for 21 years, retiring in 1982. He was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Bennington Township. He loved his close family times and the great outdoors as they camped, hunted, and fished throughout his life. Hunting mushrooms and arrow heads also rated high on his list of outdoor activities. Arnold also participated in the Honor Flight in September 2015.
Arnold is survived by wife, Karen; son, Eugene (Sherry) Averhoff of Dorchester; daughters, Doris (Jim) Madden of Waterloo and Deanne (Dan Salisbury-friend) Kuenstling of Dunkerton; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Jane Averhoff of Waterloo, Janetta Schellhorn, Paul and Marrillee Tiedt, Violet Schuldt, Melvin and Delores Joens, John and Sherry Tiedt, and Donna (Mark) Rastetetter; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by first wife, LaVera; son-in-law, Kenneth Kuenstling, and brother, Ivan Averhoff.
