Marveen Catherine Smith, 86, of Waterloo, died at home Tuesday, Oct. 28, of natural causes.
She was born Aug. 30, 1922, in rural Black Hawk County, daughter of Henry and Jen Heinz Koerner. She married James L. Smith on Oct. 31, 1945, in Eagle Center. He died May 19, 2007.
She graduated in 1940 from Eagle Center and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church.
Survived by: three nieces, Judy (Don) Kieler of Waterloo, Karen (Darrell) Langan of Cedar Rapids and Caryol (Richard) Wickert of DeWitt.
Preceded in death by: a sister, Martha Vanderheyden; a brother, Ralph Koerner; and an infant sister, Helen Koerner.
