Mary Lou Watters, 79, of Waterloo, died at Allen Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, November 10, 2009.

Mary Lou Johanna Ostlie was born August 2, 1930 in Clermont, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Mary Johansen Ostlie. She graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1949.

Mary Lou married Darrell M. Watters on October 1, 1950 in Waterloo at the Trinity American Lutheran Church.

She worked for the Waterloo Community School District for 20 years, retiring in 1994 as secretary in the guidance office.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband Darrell; daughter Marianne Doyle and her husband Andy of Waterloo; son Michael Watters of Waterloo; son David and his wife Sue of Cedar Falls; son Dennis and his wife Jackie of Ft. Dodge; grandchildren: Kimberly Woody, Mikel Woody, Matthew Watters, Dana Watters, James Watters, Jared Watters, Danny Watters, and Jacob Watters; great grandson Kerinan; and brother Louis Ostlie of Evansdale.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son James Marvin Watters, and sister Margie Loy Shirley.
