Beverly “Sue” Nicol

Beverly “Sue” Nicol

October 24, 1938 January 20, 2026

Beverly “Sue” Nicol, 87 of Waterloo, died at her home with family, January 20, 2026. She was born October 24, 1938, in Waterloo, daughter of Donald F. and Blanche Susan (Wilson) Pullin. She graduated from Orange Township in 1957 and met her future husband while attending.

Sue married Marvin “Bud” Nicol on July 7, 1957, at the South Waterloo Church of the Brethren. Bud died July 28, 2002.

She worked at Sears Dept. Store for 30 years in parts/service dept until they closed. Sue then worked at Staples for some time and retired from the Dollar General at the age of 72. She was a member of the South Waterloo Church of the Brethren. Sue had some special talents, and it was just part of her life over the years.

Early on she made her own wedding dress, and later helped others with alterations for wedding dresses, bridesmaid and prom dresses. If she wasn’t sewing, she was making wedding cakes, anniversary cakes and graduation items. She always had cookies and baked goods on hand for family and friends on hand”. She poured her heart into her talents and her family. She loved each one of them and was ever so comforted with their presence and what was going on with their lives. Through Justin, grandma became a hockey fan, and they would discuss the details of the Chicago Black Hawks. Her family was her world.

Sue is survived by her children, Becky Hughes, Keith Nicol, Darwin Nicol (Sandy Wolf) and Dale Nicol, all of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Stephanie (Jake) Goddard of Wyoming, MN, and Justin (Emily) Nicol of Maplewood, MN; three great-grandchildren, Aria, Henry and Louetta; brother, Ronald (Mary Esther) Pullin of Waterloo; two sisters-in-law, Ramona Edgerton and Carole Mountain; and brother-in-law, Ray Hottle.

She is preceded in death by her husband; brother, Alfred Pullin; sister, Donna Osgood; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Mountain and Myrna Hottle.

A special sincere thank-you to Care Initiatives for all the care and support and comfort given to our mother. Very special thanks to Jessi, Staci, Miranda, Hailey, and Amanda. We could not of done this without your help.

Family services have been held with burial in the Orange Township Cemetery.

Memorials are directed to the family
