Daniel (Dan) Ray Minard, 62 of Waterloo, passed away on Tuesday, December 23rd at his home. He was born on June 27th, 1963, in Waterloo, Iowa, to his parents Everett and Beverly (Nissen) Minard. He was raised in Waterloo and graduated from Central High School in 1981. After high school he attended the United States Marine Corps boot camp at MCRD San Diego.

On February 16th, 1986, Daniel was united in marriage to the love of his life, Brenda Vande Corput. The couple was blessed with 3 children.

Daniel spent 6 years in the US Marine Corp specializing in Amphibious Assault Vehicles. In his civilian career, Dan was employed by Heartland Inns of America LLC for over 20 years. He worked in many capacities, including being instrumental in many of the opening services, general management, cost/quality control, and maintenance supervision. Dan offered support and training to other managers when needed. He was a prolific and articulate writer and assisted in developing policies and procedures; in particular, he spearheaded special programs supporting and recognizing family members of our employees who were serving in the military. Throughout his career he was able to integrate his beloved Marine Corp personality and diplomacy when the occasion arose.

In his free time, Dan enjoyed hunting deer and pheasant, his guns, his dogs, and building model WWII airplanes. He was also known for his sense of humor and talent as a stand-up comedian to family and friends.

He is survived by Brenda of Waterloo, his children Jacob (Diana) Minard of Chicago, Nicholas (Samantha) Minard/Bute of Waterloo, and Bobbi Jo Minard (Sam Maritz) of Utah; two grandsons, Oliver and Duncan. He is preceded in death by his parents Everett and Beverly Minard.

Services are being held at Destiny Church address 5625 Prairie Street, Cedar Falls, Iowa 50613. Visitation with refreshments will be held on Saturday, January 17th at 12:00 pm with the funeral following at 1:00 pm with Military Rites. Interment in Garden of Memories.

Memorials are to be directed to Destiny Church.
