Lynda Sue Kitner, 77, of Garrison, died on Monday, January 6, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital at Cedar Rapids. She was born on October 5, 1947 in Waterloo, the daughter of Ralph and Mae (Schminke) Tompkin. Lynda graduated from Dysart High School in 1965 and earned her master's degree in education from Southwest Baptist University.
Lynda married David Kitner June 18, 2011 at home in Garrison. She worked as an elementary school teacher for the Rockwood MO School District and was a substitute teacher for Union School District.
She loved cats, collecting Willow Tree figurines, going out to eat with husband, (they celebrated their anniversary every month on the 18th), and she especially loved spending time with her family.
Lynda is survived by: her husband, David; mother, Mae Tompkin; daughter, Meika Humphrey of New Haven, MO; sister, Wendy (Ken) Arnsmeyer of Wildwood, MO; granddaughter, Kaitlynn Treat of Fayetteville, AR; grandson, Austin Treat of Fayetteville, AR; step-sons, Ross (Kaitlin) Kitner, Evansdale, Dan Kitner of Cedar Rapids, and Ron Kitner of Central City; two great-grandchilden, Levi and Maevie; seven step-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Melody (Dave) Rodus of Edgewood; and brother-in-law, Wayne Kitner of La Porte City.
Lynda is preceded in death by Father, Ralph Tompkin; and brother, Mark Tompkin.
Services will be held at a later date.
