Georgia Catherine Lingle, 92, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at the Martin Health Center of the Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls on Wednesday, March 1, 2017.

She was born March 1, 1925 in Goreville, Illinois, daughter of James and Etta Humphrey Billingsley. Georgia married Robert Leon Lingle on August 4, 1943. He preceded her in death on December 4, 1974.

She graduated from high school in Goreville. She worked at JC Penney for 26 years, retiring in 1984 as manager of the Men’s Department. Georgia was a member of the Open Bible Church and then joined the Omega Bible Study at Heartland Vineyard.

For over 30 years, Georgia met with a group of ladies every week day at the Waterloo Hardee’s Restaurant.

She is survived by a daughter, JoEllen “Jody” (Richard) Allis of Waterloo; four grandchildren: Angie (Steve) Roberts, Michael (Laurel) Lingle, Jr., Bridgette (Chas) Wagoner, and Jeff Exman; 10 great‑grandchildren: Caleb, Jaelin and Leighton Roberts, Lindie and Mahri Lingle, Emma, Jack, Mia and Gracie Wagoner, and Kadin Exman; and a daughter‑in‑law, Janet Lingle of Ocala, Florida.

Georgia is preceded in death by her husband; a son, Michael L. Lingle; two brothers, Gerald and Herman; and a sister, Goldina.
