Jeri Lee Damro, 77, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at Covenant Medical Center on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, of a pulmonary embolism.
He was born July 6, 1938 in Charles City, the son of Herbert and Agnes Flynn Damro. He graduated from Charles City High School. He served in the United States Air Force
Jeri married Deanne Helfer on December 15, 1962, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo. He was a supervisor at John Deere, retiring in 2000 after 27 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacristan at St. Francis Chapel, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
If you knew Jeri, you knew that he lived life to the fullest. He had a passion for knowledge, humor, fun, and new experiences. Family always came first. He created a close bond with each family member. Jeri was well connected with his family. As a grandpa, he checked in daily with all of his grandchildren, gave advice, inquired about their day, and always included a joke to make them laugh. As a husband, he loved his wife with all his heart. They affectionately called each other girlfriend and boyfriend. His faith grew stronger with each passing year. Memories of Jeri will often include his infectious laugh, kind demeanor, compassion, and his little Irish grin.
Jeri is survived by his wife; a daughter, Brooke De Vos and her husband Scott of Savage, Minnesota; a son, Todd and his wife Vickie of Dysart; and five grandchildren: Katelyn Damro, Joseph Damro, Noah Damro, Maxwell De Vos and Tucker De Vos.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert.
