Barbara Ann Stephens White, 68, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Thursday, January 28, 2016 at NorthCrest Specialty Care in Waterloo from complications of a long illness.

She was born September 12, 1947 in Wichita, Kansas, daughter of Charles and Catherine Mick Stephens. She received her Associates Degree from DMACC in Des Moines.

Barb married James (Jim) White and they were later divorced.

She had worked for Ruppman Marketing Technologies (now HGS) in downtown Waterloo. She was a long-time Waterloo resident moving here in 1984 from Wichita but had lived in San Diego, California from 1998 to 2003. Barb had been a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Waterloo.

Barb enjoyed Traveling, San Diego, the Beach, Camping, Popcorn, Cheez-It Crackers, Shopping, Scrabble, watching TV, hosting Family and Holiday Celebrations. And of course she loved her Diet Coke!!!

She is survived by her three sons: David Thompson of Escondido, California, Chris (Osha) Thompson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Chad (Jessie) Shipman of Waterloo; two step-children, Scott (Felicia) White and Shawn White, both of Wichita; three grandchildren: Journey and Phoenix Shipman of Waterloo and Alex Thompson of Tulsa; and six step-grandchildren: Kyle, Tyler, Jenny, Michael, Lizzy, and Skylar.
