Steven A. Graham, 64, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at Covenant Medical Center on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from complications of heart failure.

He was born March 28, 1949 in Toledo, Iowa, the son of Arthur Jr. and Dorothy Anderson Graham. He graduated from West High School in 1967. Steve married Sandy Joens on September 21, 1979 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Hudson.

Steve worked for Ziedler Concrete; then to John Deere for the next 30 years, retiring in September 2002 from the Engine Works; and later he worked part-time at Allen Hospital in the valet parking.

He was a very active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church; Eagles Club; UAW Local 838 and in Boy Scouts as well as being a Scout Master; and he grilled for the community meals.

As an avid sports fan, Steve enjoyed coaching women’s softball and officiating wrestling. He frequently traveled across the country to watch the wrestling Nationals. His competitive spirit also shined when playing cards, like Pinochle, Hearts and 500. He enjoyed the opportunity to get together with friends, camping with boy scouts or family, cheering for his favorite teams (the Yankees and the Vikings), or playing board games like Aggravation and “Ticket to Ride.” Family was very important to him. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart. They were a joy in his life!

Steve is survived by his wife Sandy of Waterloo; son Steve Graham Jr. of North Liberty, Iowa; and son Dan, daughter Sara (Ben) Kavalier, and son Issac, all of Waterloo; two granddaughters: Haley Graham and Brianna Graham; dad Arthur (Marie) Graham of Waterloo; sister Barbara (Del) Detweiler of Freeport, Illinois; sister Becky (Steve) Dotzler of Cedar Falls; sister Cindy (Dave) Stentiford of Waterloo; and brother Bob Graham of Perkiomenville, Pennsylvania. Also survived by four stepsisters: Cheryl (Greg) Lown of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Teresa (Dave) Holmes of Macungie, Pennsylvania, Diane (Tim) Lyons of Federal Way, Washington, and Lori (Marty) Van Horn of Waterloo and three stepbrothers: Larry (Kellie) Hubert, Steve (Kelli) Hubert, and Dan (Mary) Hubert, all of Waterloo. He is preceded in death by grandson Gabe Graham, mother Dorothy, sister Linda Herd and stepsister Kathy Aswegan.
