Karen Davis, 50, of Waterloo, died at Covenant Medical Center on Sunday, March 10, 2013.

Karen Ann Davis was born on June 27, 1962 in Waterloo, daughter of Hiram E. and Juanita Bryan Davis.

Karen graduated from Central High School in 1980. She attended Hawkeye Community College in the dental assistant program.

She went to Dallas, Texas and worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Bergdorf for two years. She returned to Waterloo and then worked for Dr. Wiley. In 1986, she retired due to a disability.

When she was younger, Karen was very involved in the Youth Group at St. Timothy’s Methodist Church in Cedar Falls. She loved waterskiing at Grandma’s cabin on Leech Lake. She had also been a sprint runner in high school. She enjoyed listening to music, playing games, dancing and coloring.

She is survived by her mother Juanita (Richard) Hockey of Waterloo, brother Robert A. (Pam) Davis of Traer, brother Richard R. (Janet) Davis of Cortez, Colorado, brother Ronald L. (Jolene) Davis of Georgia, sister Laura (Donald) Schwab of Hampton, Iowa, stepbrother Richard T. (Shirley) Hockey of Strawberry Point, Iowa, stepbrother Mike Hockey of Cherokee, Iowa, stepbrother Mark (Linda) Hockey of Washburn, Iowa, stepbrother Gary Hockey of Des Moines, stepbrother Steve Hockey of Bullhead, Arizona, and stepsister Tracey (Jim) Estel of Evansdale, Iowa.

Karen is preceded in death by her father, brother Thomas Davis, and sister Linda S. Davis.
