Dorothy C. Wendt, 88, of Waterloo, died Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Lakeview Landing of Friendship Village. She was born February 2, 1926 in Cedar Falls the daughter of David and Maude Goocher Phillips. She married Donald Wendt on March 18, 1951 in Cedar Falls; he preceded her in death on October 27, 2012

She graduated from Cresco High School, Iowa State Teachers College and received her Master’s Degree in Music from Northwestern University. She taught music at Price Lab in Cedar Falls and gave Suzuki violin lessons. She played the oboe and English horn in the Atlanta Symphony. She was an avid musician, artist and poet.

Survived by: three daughters, Olive Wendt of California; Carol Wendt and Kathryn (Michael) Tolliver, all of Virginia and a grandson, Zebulon Wendt of Virginia.

Preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; one son, John Thomas Wendt in infancy and one brother, Donald Phillips.
