Iona M Patten, 87, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Unity Point-Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

She was born March 15, 1927 in Luther (Boone County), Iowa, the daughter of William and Iva Wisecup Patten.

Iona was a domestic worker for several families in the Waterloo area over the years. She always enjoyed helping people and spending time with family and friends which brought comfort to her. She often talked about when the gospel came to their area when she was a child and the effect that had on her life as she grew up. Being a Bible reader, she often invited others to come to the meetings and listen to Jesus’ teachings with her. Her testimony always included her thankfulness for the two men that brought the gospel and for all the ones carrying it on today.

She is survived by her sister in law: Helen (Patten) Kellogg and many nieces and nephews. Iona is preceded in death by her sister, LaVessa Patten and six brothers: Don, Carl, Rollo, Herman, Howard and Wooster Patten.
