Sandra Kay “Sandy” Reiser, 76, of Washburn, died Monday, July 17, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born Sept. 15, 1940, in Wapello, daughter of Lester and Hannah “Fern” Reinier Messer. She married James “Jim” Reiser on Sept. 5, 1959, in Wapello.

She graduated from Wapello High School in 1958 and also attended Iowa State Teacher’s College (UNI). Sandy began her career at Rath Packing Co. and retired from Allen Memorial Hospital after 19 years of service in the human resources department.

Survived by: her husband; her mother, of Davenport; two sisters, Patricia Bartenhagen of Davenport and Linda Parrish of Pinellas Park, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Dick (Carol) Reiser of Gilbertville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: her father; two sons, Tony and Kevin; and a granddaughter, Ashley Reiser.

She was an avid flower gardener and knew the names of each of the different kinds of flowers in her garden. Sandy loved being outside and enjoyed hunting and fishing with Jim.
