Donald B. Stiles, age 99, a resident of Friendship Village Lakeview Lodge and of Waterloo, died Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born on July 16, 1917 in Waterloo; the son of Burl Lincoln and Ruth (Bassinger) Stiles. He graduated from Waterloo West High School. Donald served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII.

​Donald married Loraine Bopp on February 18, 1941 in Waterloo; she preceded him in death on September 27, 1990. He married Ruth Shepard on August 3, 1996 in Waterloo.

He worked as a Wood Pattern Maker at Manning Pattern Company for 20 years and later at John Deere Company for 20 years, retiring in 1981. Donald was a member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church. He enjoyed archery and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife Ruth of Waterloo; a daughter, Carolyn (John) Richard of Hazel Green, WI; two sons, Aaron Stiles of Waterloo and Bruce (Sharon) Stiles of Waterloo; and three grandchildren, John-Thomas (Julie) Richard of Cedar Rapids, Lilian Stiles of Waterloo, and Susanah Stiles of Waterloo.

Donald was preceded in death by wife, Loraine; a brother, Harold Stiles; and a sister, Marg Gaither.
