Mary E. “Betty” McKevitt Haack, age 85, of Waterloo, Iowa, was born the daughter of John McKevitt and Catherine Seilor McKevitt on March 25, 1923.

She graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1942.

On January 26, 1952, Betty McKevitt was united in marriage with Eugene Haack in Charles City, Iowa. They made their home in waterloo. Betty was a homemaker and worked for some time at Powers Mfg. Co. She also took care of her mother for 13 years.

She attended the Waterloo Gospel Hall. Betty was born again February 17, 1971, and was an active member until her illness.

At 7:35 pm, Tuesday, March 3, 2009, Betty died in the ManorCare Nursing Home in Waterloo of natural causes. She received much care from the Iowa Hospice Unit while at the home. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and a half-brother, Robert McKevitt from Sarasota, Florida.

Betty is survived by her husband and a cousin, Maxine Kephart of Evansdale, Iowa.
