Emma M. Petersen

Emma Mae Petersen, 83, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the Elizabeth Martin Health Center in Cedar Falls.

She was born November 4, 1932 in Waterloo, daughter of Frank L. and Laura F. Carr Harrington. She married Eugene N. Petersen, Sr. on August 27, 1949 in Waterloo. He died July 30, 1993.

Emma was a member of Hagerman Baptist Church for many years, and a homemaker and stay-at-home Mom while her children were growing up, then was a cashier at Hy-Vee on Byron Avenue in Waterloo.

Emma really enjoyed camping and being outdoors. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Emma is survived by one son, Eugene N. (Kate) Petersen, Jr. of Waterloo; three daughters, Sherie Ernst of Waterloo, Linda Noonan of Oxford, Mississippi, and Juanita (Tom) Herold of Rice Lake, Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Barbara Boyd of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Harrington; and two sisters, Verna Spore and Rose Harrington.
