Harriet Garlock, 93, of Waterloo, died at Rosewood Estate of Friendship Village on Saturday, November 26, 2011 of natural causes.

She was born March 28, 1918 in Bruce Township, Benton County, Iowa, daughter of John L. and Beatrice J. Cooper Kerr.

Harriet married Lawrence “Larry” Garlock on August 25, 1941, at Geneseo Methodist Church in Waterloo. She graduated from Orange Township Consolidated Schools in 1935, Iowa State Teachers College in 1940, and attended UNI graduate school.

She taught at West Junior High School 1959‑1973 and owned and operated Candle Glow Antiques from 1974‑1989. Harriet was a member of First Congregational Church, past president of PEO Chapter Lo, member of Funtique Chapter of Questers and Cedar Falls Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.

Harriet is survived by her husband, daugher Gretchen Van Houten of Littleton, Colorado, daughter Janice (Mitch) Sickles of Geneva, Ohio, daughter Julie (Jim) Archibald of Columbus, Ohio, 5 grandchildren, 8 great‑grandchildren, sister Marjorie Ibbotson on Tingley, Iowa, and brother-in-law Curt Glessner of Waterloo.

She is preceded in death by her parents and three sisters: Beatrice Fosse, Mary Glessner, and Trudy Grimes.
