Alethea Eveline Peters, 100, of Cedar Falls and formerly of Hudson, Iowa, died at the South Cottage of Western Home Communities on Saturday, April 23, 2016.

She was born on August 18, 1915, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Cecil Smith Richards.

Alethea married Clarence W. Peters on December 31, 1934, in Waterloo. He died April 26, 1981.

Alethea worked as a telephone operator for 37 years retiring in 1974.

She was a member of the Community Church of Hudson, the Women’s Christian Federation, and a member for over 60 years of the Rebecca Lodge. Alethea was very active with the Hudson 4-H, Hudson Fire Department and Boys/Girls Club.

Alethea is survived by her son, Gordon Peters of Keokuk, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Rose Peters of Keokuk; two grandchildren, Jay Peters of Keokuk and Julie (Dan) Fisher of Quincy, Illinois; three great-grandchildren: Michael (Trista) Peters and Amy Peters, both of Keokuk, and Kennedi Fisher of Quincy; a brother-in-law, Lloyd L. Loonan of Hudson; and two nieces, Carol (Jeff) Dick of Cedar Falls and Leeann (Norm) Armstrong of Round Lake, Minnesota.

She is preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, George Stevens; and husband.
