Dorothy Marie Holman

Dorothy Marie Holman, 94, of Waterloo, Iowa, died on Monday, October 20, 2014, at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of natural causes.

She was born June 28, 1920, in Waterloo, daughter of Glen and Clara Clark Journal. She married Wilfred LaPiere, and they later divorced. She married Donald Bowman; he died June 7, 1998. She married Virgil Holman on October 19, 2007, in Galena, Illinois.

A 1937 graduate of Waterloo East High School, Dorothy worked at Rath Packing Co. for 37 years, retiring in 1980.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Donald “Donnie” (Susan) LaPiere of Naples, Florida; two grandchildren; two stepsons, Larry Holman of Nashville, Tennessee, and David (Mary) Holman of Waterloo; and a stepdaughter, Vendetta (Pat) Dressel of McMinnville, Tennessee.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her twin brother, Donald Journal; and a half sister, Betty Jean Brooks.

She enjoyed sewing, embroidery work and cooking.
