He loved his life on the farm and tending to his yearly garden was his passion, along with playing golf. He was an avid ping-pong player with a group of friends playing many days in the shop. He loved to play cards with his grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed teaching them his many games and skills and letting them win occasionally. He looked forward to his yearly fishing trip to Canada with a group of friends. He was constantly learning and reading books. He loved photography and hanging pictures on his walls, some good and some not so good. He loved to travel especially in his retirement years to California. Many days you would find him walking down the gravel road exercising with a beloved dog beside him. In his younger years he loved softball, bowling and playing pool. He was involved in Kiwanis, The Elks, 4-H and was a lifelong member of South Waterloo Church of the Brethren.
Richard loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, family and many friends. He had a faithful group of friends that he loved dearly. He and his family will be eternally grateful for all the love and support you have shown especially during his recent years.
