David Kemmerer, 52, of Dewar, died at his home on Monday, August 20, 2007, of a heart attack. He was born May 17, 1955 in Waterloo, the son of Bob and Betty (Parks) Kemmerer.

David attended Elk Run Elementary and Bunger Junior High School; he graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1973. He married Jayne Rymer April 10, 1976 at Christ Episcopal Church in Waterloo.

David started with John Deere on February 25, 1974 and entered the John Deere Apprenticeship Program in Machine Maintenance. He was currently in Machine Maintenance in Dept. 506 at the John Deere Engine Works. David was Past Union Steward at the Foundry and Current Union Steward at the Engine Works.

David was a hard worker and a jack of all trades. He had many hobbies and interests including fishing trips to Canada, hunting deer with his dad and kids, woodworking, and vegetable gardening. Most of all he was a gentle man who loved his family and spending time with them.

He is survived by his wife Jayne and two sons: Chris of Dewar and Andy and his wife Courtney of Independence and step-granddaughter Alivia Thomas. He is also survived by his parents Bob and Betty Kemmerer of Elk Run Heights, and three sisters: Lisa Newman of Dewar, Sheila Kemmerer of Washburn, and Bobbie Tjaden of Waterloo, and nieces and nephews: Ryan and Chad Larson, Penny Stueve, Jaime Kokotan, Ann Smock, Sarah Rizner, Steve Rizner and Stephanie Babatz, Sandra and Kim Walker and great-nieces and great-nephews: Alex and Cole Babatz; Nathan, Khylee, Austen, and Julia Rizner; and Mack Hartman; Jessie and Jake Tullis, Tristan Brown, Aliah Walker, and Daniel and Jaclynn Fencl.

David is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Thomas and Hazel Parks, paternal grandparents Simon and Artie Kemmerer, father- and mother-in-law Jack and Jeane Rymer, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.
