Sharon Kay Keroff, 76, of La Porte City, IA, died at Sunnycrest Nursing Center in Dysart, IA, on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, from complications of a long illness.

She was born April 15, 1943, in Waterloo, IA, the daughter of Clyde and Ethel Gibson Kistner. She married Duane G. Keroff on November 17, 1963, at the First Presbyterian Church in Waterloo.

She worked at Montgomery Ward’s Department Store, Whitaker Foods, Holiday Inn Downtown Waterloo and for a short time at the La Porte City Nursing Home retiring due to health reasons. Sharon was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in La Porte City where she was active in the church circles.

In her youth, Sharon enjoyed roller skating and later bowling. She liked playing cards, especially “500” and she and Duane belonged to a card club for many years. Above all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Duane; three sons: Steve and wife Kathy of St. Louis‚ MO and their son, Philip, Stuart and wife Anne of St. Paul‚ MN and their children, Maddie and Sam, and Spencer and wife Lisa of Urbandale, IA and their children, Chloe, Josiah, Layla and Liliana; a step-daughter, Patty Theisen and husband Donny of Fridley‚ MN and children, Nicole and her children, Brittany and Jordan and Ben and his daughter, Brileon. Sharon is also survived by her two sisters, Marilyn Haag of Waterloo and Debbie Miller and husband Steve of Jesup, IA; and two brothers, Ron Kistner of Omaha and Mike Kistner and wife Margaret of Minneapolis.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marcella “Marcie” Peterson; two brothers-in-law, Howard Haag and Rich Peterson; and a sister-in-law, Kay Kistner.
