Patricia Kline, 85, of La Porte City, died Monday, February 18, 2019 at La Porte City Specialty Care following an extended illness.

Pat was born on June 27, 1933 in Birmingham, Alabama, the oldest daughter of John and Rachel (Durham) Mobley. She married David Kline – the love of her life – on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1959 in Louisville, Kentucky. He preceded her in death in 2008.

Pat was raised in Louisville and graduated from the University of Kentucky, where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She believed that the most important job in her life was as a wife and mother, a role in which she excelled. Pat loved playing cards and was a member of several card clubs in La Porte City. She treasured spending time with her family and hosted many family gatherings over the years.

Pat is survived by four children, Diana Kline of Kansas City, Missouri, Carolyn (Joseph) Martin of Bettendorf, Iowa, Katherine (Brian) Schmitz of Waterloo, Iowa, and David (Stefanie) Kline of La Porte City, Iowa; five grandchildren, Anne and Samuel Martin and Rachel, Audrey, and Andrew Kline.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband David, and her only sister, Dorothy Mobley, with whom she was very close.
