Peggy Anne McBride

Peggy A. McBride, age 80, of La Porte City, died Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at La Porte City Specialty Care.

She was born March 24, 1939 in rural Vail, Iowa, the daughter of Waldo Seymore and Lucille Eleanor Algore Carlson. Peggy graduated from La Porte City High School with the Class of 1957 and attended college at the University of Texas. She was united in marriage with Junior L. McBride on May 24, 1985 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on October 21, 2016.

Peggy was a legal secretary for most of her career and she retired as a legal assistant. She was a past Secretary/Treasurer for La Porte City Cemetery Association and spent many happy hours quilting. Peggy and Junior enjoyed traveling together and were members of the Midwest Tool Collectors, organizing and attending many tool shows.

Survivors include four step daughters, Ellen Pursell of Citrus Heights, CA, Lurene (Jeff) Swalve of Estherville, IA, Marla Hanna of La Porte City and June (Mike) Arbuckle of Georgetown, IL.; two grandchildren, Katy Pursell of Sacramento, CA and Jesse Pursell of Citrus Heights, CA; five step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren and six step great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Junior; three sons-in-law, Jim Turpin, Richard Pursell and James Hanna, Sr.; and a sister-in-law, Earlene McBride.
