A Christmas Prayer
Loving God,
As we look at the baby Jesus in the manger,
as we see the Christmas lights,
as we gather around the table,
come into all the places within us
that are grieving.
Enter in.
Into our sadness and fear,
our anger and loneliness,
our pain and woundedness,
our questions, expectation
and all that we cannot make right—
Come.
Let Your Love flow into every crack and crevice.
Let Your Light reach what we cannot yet see.
Let Your Life awaken what grief has left weary.
Melt what has frozen.
Warm what has grown cold.
Soften what has hardened.
Hover over us while we sleep.
Hold us when memories come.
Give us grace for what has changed
and courage for what lies ahead.
And this Christmas,
as we look again toward the manger,
may Divine Love be born in our hearts.
Divine Love.
Divine Peace.
Divine Presence.
You—the Source of all.
Amen.
