Carol L. Stevenson, age 66, of Waterloo/Cedar Falls, IA passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 21, 2021, due to a brain bleed, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Carol was comforted by her husband, Steve, sons Steven and Jason and brother Ken at the time of her passing.

Carol was born in Waterloo, IA on January 9, 1955, to father Junior "Bud" and Eileen Smith. Carol had an adventurous spirit and kept her parents on their toes throughout her younger years and high school. She attended West High School and shortly after married Steven Stevenson. They were wed on June 17, 1972, at First Wesleyan Church in Waterloo, and recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary. In addition to being mom to her two boys, Carol enjoyed doing nails, and worked as a self-employed Nail Technician out of her home for many years. However, Carol's greatest passion was raising and being around dogs. She spent many years breeding Miniature Schnauzers and was very well educated in the breed. In addition to her love for dogs, Carol took great joy in her children's accomplishments and being grandmother to Harper and Eli. During her free time, she would also enjoy spending many hours with family watching comedies and horror movies, noting Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein was one of her favorites. In recent years, Carol enjoyed traveling with Steve and being able to swim with dolphins in Mexico and visiting family in Colorado.

Carol is survived by her husband Steve of Cedar Falls; sons, Steven (Stephanie) Stevenson of Prior Lake, MN, and Jason Stevenson of Waterloo; grandchildren Harper Stevenson and Eli Herrmann of Prior Lake, MN, and younger brother Ken (Diane) Smith of Prior Lake, MN. And of course, many nieces and nephews!

Carol was preceded in death by her father, Bud Smith; her mother, Eileen Smith; and older brother James M. Smith. The family would like to thank the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics for their compassion and caring not only for Carol, but to her entire family during her final hours.
