Gary Thomas Vent, a cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully passed away on September 7, 2026, at the age of 77 due to natural causes. Born on July 22, 1949, in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Gary dedicated his life to serving others primarily as an X-ray technician at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. His commitment to healthcare reflected his compassionate spirit and profound dedication to helping those in need.

Gary was a proud veteran of the United States Army Reserve, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. His unwavering commitment to service extended beyond his military years, influencing both his personal and professional life. He was an integral part of his community, often engaging in activities that supported those around him.

Gary is survived by his beloved daughters, Pamela Baldwin of Verona, WI, and Angela (Craig) Nield, of Marion; his son, David Vent, of Cedar Falls; a legacy that includes seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Patrick Vent, of Dayton, OH. His family will forever carry the memories of his love, wisdom, and warmth. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Hilda Frisch Vent and Wilfred Vent, and brother Ronald Vent.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Gary’s honor at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 650 Stephan Ave., Waterloo, on September 23, 2026, at 10:30 AM. Prior to the service, family and friends are invited to join in a visitation at the same church starting at 9:30 AM. Following the Mass, Gary will be laid to rest at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery located at 3912 West 4th St., Waterloo, IA 50702.
