Norma Lee Ottesen, 92, of Waterloo, formerly of Sedalia, MO, and Kansas City, MO, died on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Wellspring Living of Friendship Village in Waterloo.

She was born on December 30, 1933, in Sedalia, the daughter of Ernest and Viola (Hartman) Woolery. She graduated from Smith-Cotton High School and obtained a degree from Central Business College.

Norma married William “Bill” Ottesen on December 18, 1955, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Kansas City; he preceded her in death on April 20, 2021.

She was a bookkeeper for Robinson Engineering, Construction Machinery Co., and Robert McElligott, CPA.

Norma was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was an active member, previously serving as both the treasurer and an usher. She was also a member of Cedar Valley Chapter #128 Order of Eastern Star where she was Past Matron, secretary, and treasurer. As well as the Grand Warder of the Grand Chapter of Iowa in 2007. She also enjoyed bowling and played in leagues for many years at Maple Lanes with Bill.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Greg) Ehrig of Cedar Falls; her son, Edward (Carolyn) Ottesen of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Jason (Kate) Ehrig-Page, Ashley (Henry) Neumann, and Emily (Chad Durnil) Ottesen; five great-grandchildren, Caiden Ottesen, Cailee Durnil, Simon Neumann, Cecilia Neumann, and Cian Ehrig-Page.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; a grandson, Benjamin Ottesen; a sister, Idella Hall; and a brother, William “Bill” Woolery.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2026, at Locke on 4th, 1519 West 4th Street with private inurnment at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Locke on 4th, with a 3:30 p.m. Order of Eastern Star service. Memorials may be directed to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.
