Charlotte Marie “OG” Haynes-Stalling, 71, of Waterloo, died Monday, August 3, 2026, while at patient at Unity Point St Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. She was born on August 10, 1954, to Willie James Haynes and Marie Miller Haynes in Chicago, IL. OG went to school in Chicago and got her GED while working jobs like Rock and Roll, McDonalds, and as a custodian for the City Colleges of Chicago.
OG moved to Waterloo in 1993. She worked at Uptown Jazz as a CNA and a custodian and retired as a senior companion. She loved to laugh, play spades, CHEAT, and hang out with her family, especially Nita, Theresa, and Devell, also known as The Golden Girls. No matter what the issue, including heart attack, stroke, or headache, she always had the same remedy: “take an aspirin and lay it down!”
Charlotte married Keith Stalling Sr in 1970 and they had five children; Keith Stalling Jr, Kelvin Stalling, Kenneth “Frank” Stalling, LaWanda “Squana” Stalling, and Kawaneee “Tune” Stalling. Charlotte had another daughter Quanee “Twyla” (Jonathan) Heard with Brian Martin and two other bonus children, Kiana Stalling and Karlton Stalling.
Charlotte had ten siblings, Willie (Cora) Haynes, Roy Haynes, Ronald “Ronnie” Haynes Sr, Nathaniel Haynes, Anita Williams, Danny Haynes, Esay “Bay Ray” Haynes, Rickey Haynes, Theresa (Alphonso) Brown, and Leonard “White” Haynes. She also had six bonus siblings, Clem (Gloria) Ferguson, Darryl (Gwen) Ferguson, Kenneth “Kenny” Ferguson, Rev. Lyle (Theresa) Ferguson, and Amey Hopkins.
Charlotte has 21 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, two best friends, Devell Haynes and Endurance Young, a host of nieces and nephews, and many other devoted family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her son Kenneth Stalling, parents, and five brothers, Willie Haynes, Ronald Haynes, Nathaniel Haynes, Danny Haynes and Rickey Haynes.
The wake for Charlotte will be held Friday, August 14, 2026, at Locke on 4th St., 1519 W 4th St, Waterloo, from 5 to 7 pm. Homegoing celebration will be Saturday, August 15, 2026, at noon, at Community Southern Baptist Church, 522 Anthony St., Waterloo, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
