Helen J. Jean Schmidt

Helen J. (Havlik) Schmidt, 85, of Dike, died Saturday, March 12, 2022, at her home. She was born January 10, 1937, in Adams County, Iowa, the daughter of Anton and Elenora Pashek Havlik. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart School and attended Iowa Teacher's College in Cedar Falls.

She married Don Schmidt on May 21, 1956, in Vinton, Iowa.

Helen blessed many as a Home Health Aide for over 25 years. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and enjoyed camping and bike riding.

Survived by: her husband, Don of Dike, IA; two daughters, Connie (Don) Duty of Steilacoom, WA, Karen (Brien) Deverick of Yukon, OK; five sons, Philip (Judi) Schmidt of Freemont, NE, Clayton (Jenny) Schmidt of Bradenton, FL, Andrew (Michelle) Schmidt of Jefferson City, MO, Timothy (Jennifer) Schmidt of Wellsburg, Nathaniel (Katey) Schmidt of Colby, KS; 25 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Elsie McElmeel of Waterloo, IA, and Kathy Hanson of Belleview, FL.

Preceded in death by: her parents; three brothers, Walter, Joseph, and Michael Havlik in infancy; and a sister, JoAnn Snodgrass.

Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday at Locke on 4th, 1519 W. 4th St., Waterloo, Iowa, 50702, and also an hour before the service at the funeral home.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Locke on 4th, with burial in the Lincoln Township Cemetery in Grundy Center, Iowa.
