Loren D. Batton, 66, of Evansdale, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026, at his home under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice.
He was born on November 5, 1959, in Belmond, son of Paul L. and Arlene L. Peterson Batton. Loren attended Rockford High School where he was a proud member of the wrestling team. He later earned his autobody specialist certification from Hawkeye Tech.
Loren married Cheryl Hall in 1977 in Charles City; they later divorced. He married Debra Sue Melohn; they also divorced. In 2020, Loren met and started a long-term relationship with Buffy Hites.
In the 1970s, he started Bink’s Construction, which he owned and operated until he sold the business in the 1990’s. In 1998, after earning his autobody certification, he worked at Dick Witham’s painting cars. Loren then joined Huff Contracting as a carpenter where he worked for over 20 years.
Loren loved spending his time riding his Indian motorcycle, camping and boating, going to car shows, and helping his kids with construction and remodeling projects. He also enjoyed spending his time with his children and grandchildren.
Loren is survived by one son, Michael (Tori) Batton of Janesville; two daughters, Laurie (Jeramie) Wasem of Nashua, and April (Matthew) Apel-Batton of Denver; 13 grandchildren, Hailey, Colton, Jay, Jon, Ryan, Tyler, Samantha, Jordan, Haylie, Jaymie, Reegan, Rayna, and Danielle; two great-grandchildren, Macy and Ember; one brother, Leslie (Tomas) Batton of Mason City; and his significant other, Buffy Hites of Evansdale.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Lacey Batton; one son, Bradley Batton; two brothers, Lance, and Larry Batton; and a sister, Linda Lindloff.
Services: 10:30 AM Friday, July 24, 2026, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo, inurnment to take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 PM, Thursday, July 23, 2026, at the Locke at Tower Park.
