Joyce “Kathi” Kathleen Hagberg

Joyce "Kathi" Hagberg, 80, of Waterloo, joined her husband, Shelby, in Heaven, on Sunday, May 29, 2022, surrounded by family at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home. She was born on February 17, 1942, in Novinger, MO, the daughter of Floyd Billington and Dolly Stanley Billington. Kathi married Shelby Hagberg on June 13, 2000, in Waterloo, IA.

Kathi attended school in Novinger and Waterloo. She worked as the Activities Director at Tripoli Nursing Home where she retired in 2000. Kathi loved shopping, coloring, gardening and reading. Her family was her passion. Kathi was quick with a laugh, and everything brought her joy. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Cedar Falls.

Kathi is survived by her daughters, Tina (Steve) Carlson of Las Vegas and Tiona (Scott Bergom) Johnston of Waterloo; eight grandchildren, Shane (Jessica) Dorfman and Devin (Allory) Dorfman, both of Waterloo, Zachary (Mallareigh Moser) Dorfman of Madison, WI, Tabetha (Bryan) Rosenberg, of Bonney Lake, WA, Slade Carlson, of Las Vegas, Steven Carlson II of Las Vegas, Charles (Christina) Johnston of Lebanon, MO and Jessica Johnston of Lebanon, MO; a great grandson, Liam Shelby Dorfman; sister, Eileen (Larry) Weisenberger of Evansdale; and brother, Dick (Peggy) Billington of Green Castle, MO; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby; son, Robert "Wayne" Johnston Jr.; sisters, Helen Hermance, Donna Fink, and Lorene Gavigan; and brothers, Floyd Billington Jr., Ricky Billington, Pearl Billington, and Tommy Billington.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 2, 2022, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3006 Pleasant Dr., Cedar Falls, IA beginning at 11:00 AM with burial to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Locke on 4th Street, 1519 W 4th St, Waterloo, on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. As a show of sympathy, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
