Naurine Cleo Harris

Naurine "Rinky" Harris, 89, of La Porte City, formerly of Waterloo, died at UnityPoint Health on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. She was born October 11, 1932 in Eau Claire, WI, one of fourteen children of Ewald and Minnie (Giles) Thalacker. She married Richard L. Harris on December 6, 1952 in Eau Claire. He preceded her in death on November 11, 2001.

Rinky worked as a homemaker, raising five children. She also babysat dozens of children through the years who became as close as family. Naurine had the best garden in the world, loved fishing, raising chickens, and was a wonderful cook.

She is survived by four sons: Greg (Betty) Harris of Waterloo, Bob (Theresa) Harris of Cedar Rapids, Steve Harris of La Porte City, and Brian (Tina) Harris of Belle Plaine; her daughter, Sue Rutledge of Dysart; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and many siblings.

Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, July 1, 2022, at Locke on 4th Street, Waterloo, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place after in Geneseo Township Cemetery, Buckingham. Memorials may be directed to the family.
