Alyca Marie Leet

Alyca Marie Leet

July 20, 1941 April 24, 2022

At 7:10 AM on a beautiful Sunday morning, April 24, 2022, Alyca Marie LeTohic Leet, 80, of Waterloo, quickly and unexpectedly slipped into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on July 20, 1941, in Freeport, NY, the daughter of Henry and Eleanor Avey LeTohic.

Alyca came to a saving faith at her mother's knee early in life and it changed her forever. Alyca earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education from The Kings College in New York. She met James Leet Jr. while working at Camp-of-the-Woods in the Adirondack Mountains. Although she fell madly in love with Jim at first sight, she didn't realize it for several years. They married on June 5, 1965, in Oceanside, NY. To this union, the couple was blessed with two children. Alyca devoted her life to her family and to ministry. In her eyes, serving others was natural.

Alyca was a faithful member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls. As a resident of Friendship Village, Alyca took it upon herself to make certain every resident received a birthday card or an anniversary card and she continued that practice until she was physically unable to do it any longer.

Alyca is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jim Leet Jr. of Waterloo; a son, David (Melody) Leet of North Carolina; a daughter, Joy Smith of West Branch, IA; and a sister, Paulette Cotter of New York. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Alan Cotter.

Funeral services for Alyca will be held at the Event Center at Village Terrace of Friendship Village, 600 Park Lane, Waterloo, at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, with an hour of visitation prior to the service. Private family burial will take place at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, MN.

As a show of sympathy, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church or Ridge Haven-Cono in Walker, IA.
