Lorena Nadine Harting, 88 of La Porte City, died at her home on May 14, 2026. She was born December 22, 1937, in Jubilee Township, IA. daughter of Dale and Milderd (Jurgens) Abernathey. She graduated from La Porte City High School in 1956.

She married William L. “Bill” Harting on May 4, 1957, at the Zion Lutheran Church (Jubilee). Lorena was homemaker over the years, and she also helped as a bookkeeper for her son’s trucking business, retiring in 2023. Over the years, she and Bill loved to travel on various excursions.

Lorena is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Harting of La Porte City; two sons, Doug (Deb) Harting of La Porte City and Todd Harting of Onamia, MN; daughter, Cheryl (Kevin) Harting Dutler of La Porte City; eight grandchildren, Kylee Harting, Sydni Harting, Dakota Harting, Brandi (Brent) Pecenka, Justin (Jenai) Dutler, Lauren Martin, Veronica Harting, Chase (Samantha) Harting; five great-grandchildren, Alyza, Owen, Eli, Zara and Rayleigh; half siblings, Mike (Darla) Abernathey, Tom (Ann) Abernathey, Karen (Bill) Morrison, David (Eileen) Fisher and Terry Fisher.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00pm Friday, May 22, 2026, at Locke in La Porte City.
