Robert G. "Bob" Duffy, 71, of Iowa City, formerly of Waterloo, died on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.

Bob was born on May 8, 1952, in Waterloo, the son of John and Mildred Fox Duffy.

He graduated from Columbus Catholic High School in 1970.

He married Nancy Hostetter on August 10, 1974, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church; they later divorced. He married Cheryl Johns on April 20, 1990, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua; they also divorced.

Bob worked at John Deere from 1974 until his retirement in 2008 from the Paint Line at the Northeast Site. He was a member of UAW Local #838.

He loved the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed Hawaiian shirts. He was well known for his eclectic sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He was the "ambassador" of his retirement community in Iowa City where he was also the undefeated champion of bean bag baseball and was known as "Just Bob." Above all, he loved his sons, Brian and Sean.

Bob is survived by his sons, Brian (Josh) Duffy of North Liberty' and Sean Duffy of Dike; sister, Rita (Gene) Mosley of Waterloo; brothers, Roger Duffy of Waterloo and Roland (Jead) Duffy of Universal City' TX; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Talon.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Regis Duffy, and his second wife, Cheryl.

A memorial gathering will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon with an 11:30 a.m. time of sharing on Saturday, September 23, at Locke on 4th in Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to the family.
