Beverly "Bev" Mae Thompson Puhl, 83, of Blaine, MN and formerly of Waterloo, died Tuesday, January 23, 2024, while a resident at Edgewood Assisted Living. She was born on May 6, 1940, in Waterloo, the daughter of Vern and Leora James Thompson. Bev graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1958 and married Douglas Puhl on February 20, 1960, at First Presbyterian Church in Waterloo.
Bev loved spending time with family and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors, especially her friends at Panera Bread in Waterloo. Bev enjoyed visits to a casino. Playing BINGO was the highlight of her week at Edgewood, and she won so much that they limited the number of times she could win. Bev could make a mean batch of cookies and delighted in eating junk food. She was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church in Waterloo.
Bev is survived by her daughter Renee (Steve) Miller of Blaine, MN, grandchildren Ashley (Jeff) Scottston of St Louis Park, MN, and Austin (Julia) Miller of Eveleth, MN, and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister, Barbara Cutsforth.
Funeral services for Bev will be Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Locke at 4th Street, 1519 W 4th St., in Waterloo, IA, with burial to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the funeral. Memorial contributions should be directed to Grace Hospice, 1015 N 4th Ave Suite 206, Minneapolis, MN 55405, or to the family.
