Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Locke Garden View Chapel, Logan Ave (Hwy 63 N), Waterloo. Visitation for one hour before services at the chapel. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Betty Jean Ostlie, 97, of Waterloo, died Friday, January 27, 2023, at NorthCrest Specialty Care. She was born November 8, 1925, in Rowley to Henry and Hilda (Waitman) Robison. Betty married James Ostlie December 29, 1949, in Nashua, Iowa, He died on October 3, 1983. Betty worked as a housewife, raising their three daughters.
She was a charter member of Linden United Methodist Church, and later was a member at Prince of Peace Church. Betty was a social person. She enjoyed coffee groups while living at Cedar River Towers, and BINGO. She loved animals – especially dogs and cats.
Betty is survived by her daughters: Sandy (Bud) Baldwin of Waterloo, and Linda (Randy) Engel of Elk Run Heights; her grandchildren: Kristina Cooley, Kerri (Kirk) Cleppe, Kim (Jeremy) Brown, and Dave Hedeman; stepdaughter Jammi Welter; and step-grandchildren: Jeff Baldwin, Betsy Borrett, and Brenda Rushing; 21 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; a daughter, Carol Hedeman; her brother William Robison; and her sister, Thelma Bearbower.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Locke Garden View Chapel, Waterloo, with visitation one hour prior to service at Garden View Chapel. Burial will take place after the service in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
