Sharon Jo Schotter

Sharon Jo Schotter, 66, of Waterloo, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center.

She was born December 28, 1957, in Waterloo, daughter of Lloyd and Doris Gunderson Niedert. Sharon graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1976. She married John Schotter on June 30, 1979, in Waterloo.

Sharon was the co-owner of Ridgeway True Value Hardware with her husband. She also worked at McKenna Color Labs.

Sharon loved designing and working in the flower gardens that decorated her backyard. She kept in touch with lots of friends some she had maintained since kindergarten. Her family was the most important to her, being called Mom and Grandma was all Sharon every wanted.

Sharon is survived by her husband, John of Waterloo; two sons, Casey Schotter, and Bob (Caity) Schotter, both of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Lucas and Liliana; brother, Dennis (Linda) Niedert of La Porte City; two sisters, Dianne (Gayland) Popenhagen of Cedar Falls, and Julie (Hal) Chase of Adel; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Pat Schotter of Waterloo; brother-in-law, Dave (Jane) Schotter of Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, Amanda Jo Schotter.

Funeral Services: 11:00 AM Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. Visitation: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Locke at Tower Park. Memorials may be directed to the family.
