Louise Sanborn Huff, 108, of Waterloo, died Monday, March 21, 2022, at Friendship Village.

Louise was born March 25, 1913, in Russell, Iowa, the daughter of Bert and Florence Duckworth Sanborn. After graduating from Russell High School, Louise moved to Des Moines to nanny and keep house for a doctor. She met and married her husband, Lewis A. Huff, who was a student at Drake University.

After his graduation they moved to Coon Rapids, Iowa, where Lewis started his first job as an educator and where their four boys, Charles, Dale, Don, and Tom were born. In 1943 the family moved to Waterloo where Lewis taught classes at West High until he retired. Their daughter Diane was born in 1952.

She was a member of Hammond Avenue Brethren Church where she belonged to a circle and volunteered. She was a member of her Reber Avenue Neighborhood Birthday Club for over 70 years. She was known as the neighborhood nurse and "baby teeth puller" as well as for her excellent apple pies and cooking. She was a seamstress and made 11 denim jean comforters for her grandchildren. She spent many years of her life watching her boys wrestle.

Huff (Carolyn) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, and Diane Yagla (Steve) of Iowa City, IA; 10 grandchildren, Mark Constable (Sandy) of Amhearst, NH, Todd Huff (Melissa) of Golden, CO, Dan Huff (Stephanie) of Waterloo, Denise Nosbisch (Steve) of Raleigh, NC, Mary Lynn Huff Bergland of Houston, TX, Thomas W. Huff (Stephanie McAndrew) of Portland, OR, Mary Peterson (Daniel) of Iowa City, IA, Jonathan Yagla (Jenni Lobb Ross) of Iowa City, IA, Susan Fajardo (Jose) of Iowa City, IA, and Jessica Hodge (Andy) of North Liberty, IA; 18 great-grandchildren, Joshua Constable (Emily) of Milford, NH, Matthew Constable (Amber) of Mount Vernon, NH, Andrew Constable of Amhearst, NH, Jonathan Constable (Nicole) of Dover, NH, Boz Sahrawat (Amy) of Norwell, MA, Patrick Huff (Laura) of Urbandale, IA, Daniel Huff (Meghan) of North Liberty, IA, Jack Nosbisch (Sarah) of Washington, DC, Max Nosbisch of Augusta, ME, Jonny Bergland of Houston, TX, Thomas A. Huff, Josephine Huff, and William Huff, all of Portland, OR, Harris Peterson of Iowa City, IA, Micah Fajardo and Monet Fajardo, both of Iowa City, IA, Caiden Hodge and Josie Hodge, both of North Liberty, IA; and 9 great, great grandchildren, Katie, Ryon, and Tyler Constable, all of Milford, NH, Natalie and Jade Jean Constable, both of Mount Vernon, NH, Miai and Asheer Sahrawat, both of Norwell, MA, Rory Huff of Urbandale, IA, and Delilah Nosbisch of Washington, DC. Louise was especially blessed in the last few months of her life with the births of 3 of those 9 with number 10 on the way!

She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers; husband, Lewis; her eldest son, Charles; and great-grandson, Nick Nosbisch.

A private family memorial service was held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, Friendship Village, or First Baptist Church – Waterloo.
