Susan ‘Susie’ Sink Douglas, 78. of Waterloo, died Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Oak Park Estates. She was born May 29, 1947, in Waterloo, the fourth of eleven children of Clyde and Marcella (Miller) Sink. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1965.
Susan married David Douglas on April 23, 1971, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2024. Susie worked in insurance offices while she and David lived in Iowa, Minnesota, and Oklahoma. Her greatest joy was always their son, Michael.
Susie was kind, funny, joyful, and sometimes a little spicy. She was classy and carried herself with pride. She became the matriarch of her siblings, the favorite aunt, and the one everyone gravitated to. She was especially close with her sisters, imagine the stories that could be told from their slumber parties! She read constantly, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and cutthroat games of dominoes with her family.
Susan is survived by her beloved son, Michael of Waterloo; her sisters Barb (Jim) Burns of Waterloo and Jody (Jim) Sessions of Cedar Falls; sisters in law Karen Sink, Vicki Sink, Joyce (Dave) Riley; brothers in law Ray Moore, Dan McDougall, and Ray (Sheila) Douglas, and 35 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David, five brothers: Tom (Karen), Jim (Vicki), Dan (Linda), Joe, and David; three sisters: Carol (Bob) Goodrich, Kathy Moore, and Betsy McDougall.

Our deepest sympathy to Susan’s family and friends.
I always told Susie that I would be with her every step while she confronted Alzheimer’s with as much courage as possible. She told me several times she thought she had the disease but I didn’t believe it. Alzheimers couldn’t possibly strike another sibling I loved so much! After she moved to Oak Park and got established, she and I would go for car rides, trips to Target or for coffee. Her favorite outing however, was her visit to Aunt Mary Lou. Those two had a great time together laughing and telling stories. Most of all though, I’m going to miss those visits where we just sat and chatted. There is a pretty good welcoming party going on in heaven right now. I know Susie is happy and healthy and smiling down on us. I love you, Susie. ❤️
Sending much love and Light to all Sue’s family and friends! She was a bright Light for all who knew her.

Sue was a fun friend and yes, a little spicy and sassy! She made the BEST lasagna and we enjoyed playing bunco and cards in Bella Vista for many years. Although we never met Mike, he was the apple of her eye. Hugs to Mike and Sue’s family on the loss of such a special lady.
One of my sources of pride was my dad (Tom Sink) telling me how much I looked (and acted like) my Aunt Susie. She will be missed. Sending much love to you Michael –
Our deepest condolences to the Family. Thinking of you and prayers for each.
