Janet A. Barcherding, 90, of Waterloo, died Monday, October 16, 2023, at MercyOne Waterloo.

She was born October 3, 1933, in rural Fairbank, the daughter of Wren and Golda (Gletty) Wood.

Janet graduated from Waterloo West High School with the class of 1951.

She was primarily a homemaker but had also worked in housekeeping at Schoitz Hospital and Covenant Medical Center, retiring in 1996.

Janet was a member of Waterloo First United Methodist Church. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, puzzles, and playing cards. Janet also loved to go line dancing. She always looked forward to going to her exercise class.

Survived by five children, Susan (James) Burns of Livingston, MT, Jody (Richard Dismont) Faust recently returned to Waterloo from Las Vegas, NV, Nancy (William) Snyder of Farmers Branch, TX, Brian (Sharri) Barcherding of Chico, TX, and Beth (Arlen) Chamberlain of Las Vegas, NV; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and sister, Ellen Billings of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by her parents and brother, Duane Wood.
