Gale Ralph Habinck, 81, of Waterloo, died Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.
He was born December 8, 1942, in Sioux City, the son of Ralph and Ada (Castle) Habinck. He graduated from Mapleton High School in 1960 and earned a bachelor's degree in applied sciences from the University of South Dakota in 1965.
Gale married Nancy Frazee on February 21, 1965, at Mapleton United Methodist Church in Mapleton; she preceded him in death on May 20, 2023.
He retired from John Deere in 1999 as a supply manager after 31 years of service.
Gale was a member of Orchard Hill Church in Cedar Falls. He enjoyed woodworking and metal working. He was very handy and could fix anything, which he often did for people in his family. He traveled the country with his grandchildren on many vacations from coast to coast.
He is survived by his four children, Julie (Darrell) Huebner of Waterloo, Gale (Shannon) Habinck of Cedar Falls, John (Tresa) Habinck of Waterloo, and Joel (Karie) Habinck of Cedar Falls; 12 grandchildren, Kenny & Jeremiah (Ali) Huebner, Jordan Habinck, Haley (Micah) Reuscher, Samantha, Jayda, Alyssa, Olivia, Ethan, Isaac, Audrey Habinck and Kaleb Grimm; great-grandchildren, Briggs Huebner and Arya Grimm; and a sister, Betty (Gary) Kunze of Mapleton.
Gale was preceded in death by his parents and wife; a brother, LeRoy Habinck; and a sister, Judy Habinck.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2024, at Orchard Hill Church in Cedar Falls, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery in Waterloo. Visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Locke on 4th, 1519 West 4th Street, Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to Orchard Hill Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
